The mission of Uplift a Child Interntional (Former name -Vonumu International) is to identify the poor and needy children, place them in a school, and support them through 10 -12 years of schooling through the high school. This will keep the children off the streets, provide them with the basic skills to develop, and give them an opportunity to emerge as self-reliant and productive members of the society. By the time the children completes high school, they will have the necessary social skills and will be mature enough to plan and work towards a brighter future. Until then, we work with each child in helping the child grow in the right direction.
Old Skool Café is a faith based violence prevention program providing jobs and training to at-risk youth ages 16-22 at a 1940s-style supper club. We address the epidemic of violence and recidivism by providing at-risk, previously incarcerated, and foster care youth with a variety of career opportunities that would normally not be afforded them. Our vision is to establish a youth-run restaurant that will employ youth in every area of the business, developing real skills that are transferable in the marketplace.
Quaker Valley Recreation Association (QVRA) is a community-based supporting youth athletic programs for families and children who live or go to school in or around the Quaker Valley school district. In many respects, QVRA fulfills the role of municipal recreation departments for the 11 communities that make up the Quaker Valley school district. QVRA's work is performed primarily with private funding and all volunteers.
