Over the years Sanctuary has developed into a men-only winter emergency shelter that opens each and every evening from November to the end of March - the year's coldest months. Sanctuary can accommodate up to 28 men and provides an evening meal, laundry and mail services, a minimum of two hot showers per week, winter clothing and outerwear (as available) and personal care/hygiene products. Sanctuary welcomes all men regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or prior legal history. Funding for Sanctuary is provided through various sources including state and federal grants and private donations from our many friends and community partners who share our commitment to treat every person with respect and dignity. If you or your group would like to partner with us in this important endeavor please contact us. Blood:Water is an equipping agency that partners with African grassroots organizations to address the water and HIV/AIDS crises. We do this by identifying Africa’s hidden heroes and coming alongside their vision for change. We provide technical, financial, and organizational support so that African civil society organizations have expanded reach and effectiveness in the communities they serve. From our experience there is a lack of local, long term solutions to the water and HIV/AIDS crises in Africa. Our solution is to invest in scalable, African-led organizations and support their capacity building so that the investment will be leveraged for years to come. The target population is Eastern and Southern Africa, and particularly communities heavily affected by HIV/AIDS.
We provide food and clothing, and promote dignity to our homeless brothers and sisters in need.

When you visit the JCK we are sure that you will feel at home at our various services, programs, and social events. The JCK family is known for its intimate, welcoming, inclusive, and informal character where our Jewish culture and traditions come to life in vibrant and modern ways. We welcome non-Jewish partners to participate in all areas of congregational life. Whether you are looking for a spiritual connection, Jewish education, opportunities for social action, or social programming, the JCK has what you have been looking for in a congregation! As the rabbi of the JCK, my goal is to facilitate the presentation of Judaism, our texts, culture, theology, food, and Israel, in a way that will instill a sense of excitement and wonderment in Jews of all ages, and lead toward increased curiosity, spirituality and a real sense of community. At the JCK we empower our community members to take ownership of the aspects of Judaism with which they identify, interact, and in which they are most invested; guiding them towards greater confidence in their Jewish identities and practice. We look forward to welcoming you at one of our services or other great events during the year. B’shalom (in peace), Rabbi Josh Leighton
