Founded in 2012, Postpartum Society of Florida (PPSF) volunteers are committed and passionate about easing the transition from pregnancy to parenthood in the perinatal period through education, preparation, and support. Our goal is to reduce overall incidence of PMADs in the perinatal population (currently 1 in 5 women suffer a PMAD or "postpartum depression" as it is popularly termed) quality education, community building, and reduction of isolation and escalation of crisis. Through our programs such helpp scholarship for providers (34 providers trained in PMADs in 17 counties), SisterMom mentorship training (12 volunteers trained in 8 counties), mitunes: mother-infant music (more than 2,000 copies distributed in west coast Florida and online), web-based perinatal support locator (new! ), and our outstanding free mother-to-mother peer support groups and warmlines in the Sarasota/Bradenton area (more than 2,000 personal contacts per year), we can making powerful strides toward improving maternal (and paternal! ) - infant health and wellness in the state of Florida.
