Direct Relief improves the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergency situations by mobilizing and providing essential medical resources needed for their care. Direct Relief works in all 50 U.S. states and in more than 90 countries to expand access to medicine and healthcare by equipping doctors and nurses with lifesaving medical resources.

Mission: We are dedicated to providing supplemental food assistance to individual and families facing food insecurity while foster a community of support dignity and hope. The Carson Valley Community Food Closet is the primary provider of food assistance in Douglas County, we distribute over a million pounds of food annually in partnership with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada (FBNN). We serve the community through food distributions, offering groceries, fresh produce, meat, dairy, hygiene items, holiday assistance, and pet food, as available. ​

The mission of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is to provide impartial medical relief to the victims of war, disease, and natural or man-made disaster, without regard to race, religion, or political affiliation. A non-profit, self-governed, member-based organisation, MSF's global reach is demonstrated by a presence in over 72 countries and territories with medical humanitarian projects, 9,904,200 medical consultations conducted by humanitarian teams, and 877,300 patients admitted to MSF hospitals or clinics around the world.

DAV is dedicated to a single purpose: keeping our promise to America’s veterans. We accomplish this by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them, fighting for the interests of America’s injured heroes on Capitol Hill, providing employment resources to veterans and their families, and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life.

Chartered in 1934, the Animal Defense League of Texas (ADL) is the oldest no-kill shelter for abandoned, abused, or neglected dogs and cats in South Central Texas. Through the operation of two facilities, a centrally located 12-acre campus and the city-owned Paul Jolly Center for Adoptions, ADL saves the lives of vulnerable animals primarily originating from the most poverty-stricken communities in San Antonio. A full veterinary hospital housed on the main campus provides spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and microchipping for all pets in ADL’s care. In addition, ADL performs specialized surgeries for animals with complex medical conditions and is the first organization to provide no-cost mobile wellness clinics to historically underserved areas. ADL’s partnership with Animal Care Services (ACS) is instrumental in helping the City of San Antonio back to achieving a “No-Kill” status.

We fulfill our mission by providing the mothers and children with a safe and nurturing environment and comprehensive social services." Miriam's House was formerly known as Promises Foundation.

Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises. Applying their model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served more than 400 million nourishing meals around the world. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes with the urgency of now to start cooking and serving meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. To support regional economies, WCK prioritizes purchasing local ingredients to cook with or distribute directly to families in need. In times of acute crisis, Save the Children mobilizes rapid assistance to help children recover from the effects of war, conflict and natural disasters.

The mission of Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) is to honor and empower wounded warriors. The organization's vision is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of injured service members in our nation’s history, by CONNECTING, SERVING, and EMPOWERING the wounded men and women who so bravely volunteered to serve our nation on or after the events of September 11, 2001. They CONNECT warriors, their families, and caregivers to peers, programs, and communities to ensure they have a readily available network of support. SERVE by providing free mental and physical health and wellness programs, career and benefits counseling, and by providing ongoing support for the most severely injured. And EMPOWER warriors to live life on their own terms, mentor fellow veterans and service members, and embody the WWP logo by carrying one another on a path toward recovery. Today, more than 110,000 wounded warriors and 26,000 family support members and caregivers are registered with WWP and have access to free programs and services that CONNECT, SERVE, and EMPOWER.
