CRIBS International

CRIBS International is an experienced, longstanding and reputable NGO working in Athens, Greece. We focus on provision of the following: Refugee women and infant's housing project, Casework, psychologist, legal, medical and employment support, Community development work and a Free Shop for women and children ensuring distribution with dignity. At CRIBS International, our mission is to house and support refugee women who are in their final trimester of pregnancy or who have a new-born baby and have arrived in Greece, having fled conflict and exploitation. We provide this emergency support for the first 12 months of a baby's life to allow them to be born into a nurturing environment. CRIBS offers a lifeline to the women we support, many of whom are travelling alone and some being survivors of rape and sexual exploitation. When they reach Athens, despite being pregnant, the women receive no support from the authorities and are left to manage in any way they can as the state does not deem them vulnerable. Many become street homeless and prey to further abuse, or are forced into unsafe, closed camps with inadequate food, where violence is endemic and where health care facilities are almost non-existent. In the words of one of the women we support, 'When you arrive in Greece, it's difficult to restart your life with nothing'. By providing shelter, safety and support, we prevent homelessness and protect lives. More than this, we also work to empower women to begin to recover from trauma, to get back on their feet and to rebuild their life. Our goal is to provide the support needed to enable them to integrate into society, live independently and become part of the community to which circumstances have brought them.

Rights and Security International

We work collaboratively to document human rights violations committed in the name of national security; create innovative, evidence-based new policy ideas and legal arguments; and use human rights law as a practical tool for change -- while supporting others who want to do the same. We work directly with communities to establish the facts and make human rights an effective practical tool for change. Our principled, expert work ensures that the safeguards of international human rights law remain in place for everyone, and helps stop governments from sliding into secrecy, impunity and oppression. Our work ensures that movements for justice and equality can flourish without being wrongly silenced. Our national and international influence help us have an impact on lawmakers, courts, the UN and the media, resulting in a better understanding of human rights and more rights-respecting laws. We challenge religious, racial, gender and other bias in national security policing, promote justice and transparency, and amplify the voices of affected communities.

Liverpool University Hospitals Charitable Fund

The Sunshine Group supports breast cancer patients of the University Hospitals of Liverpool, from diagnosis, before, during and after treatment. Run by a small group of volunteers, the group steered by women for women relying on donations to fund our work. We arrange a number of charity events, we invite guest speakers to attend our meetings, we offer days out, and a range of alternative complimentary therapies which are performed by volunteer therapists. these include: Lymphatic drainage treatment, which is a specialised, gentle type of medical massage. The aim is to encourage the lymph fluid to move away from the swollen area, so it can drain normally. It also helps lymph fluid drain through the healthylymph vessels. This helps control swelling. Reiki - a stress reduction and relaxation technique used to encourage healing and provide other benefits. For cancer patients, Reiki may be able to help reduce pain associated with the progression of the disease. It can also reduce some of the uncomfortable symptoms patients commonly experience during cancer treatment, such as anxiety, weakness, and nausea. Reflexology - a technique that appliesgentle pressure toyour feet or hands which aims to bring about a state of relaxation and help the body's own healing process. Reflexologists believe there are certain points on the feet and hands. These points correspond to the organs and glands in the body. So by pressing and massaging these points it can stimulate energy pathways in the body. If anyenergy pathways are blocked reflexology aims to unblock them. Allowing theenergy to flow freely again which aims to restore balance to the body. These therapies are for patients going through treatments and it is also an opportunity for patients to talk to therapists and other patients. The retreat also offers patients a safe and relaxing space to share their experiences, worries and feelings over a cup of coffee with the support of our dedicated volunteers with their own lived experiences.

Engaged Events UK Ltd

The Palestine Festival of Literature (PalFest) is a cultural initiative committed to the creation of language and ideas for dismantling colonialism in the 21st century. The festival was created as an act of cultural solidarity with Palestine by a group of international cultural figures brought together by Founding Chair, Ahdaf Soueif, in 2008. Since then PalFest has run an annual festival in which international authors combine with their Palestinian counterparts for free, public events in cities across Palestine. During the daytimes, visiting authors are taken to sites of historical and political relevance and meet with artists, authors and activists. Our hope is that the experience of visiting Palestine with PalFest expands authors' vocabulary and imagination, that they will draw connections between their own work and the various processes of control ongoing in Palestine. We work internationally to promote Palestinian voices and literature through a year-round program of live events, book publications, social media content, editorial engagement and publicity support.
