Computers For Schools Burundi 's organization has ambitions and multiple programs dedicated to the children/youth and the population in general in Burundi, in areas such as environment, education, agriculture, Leadership and entrepreneurship development and many more. With respect to education, our objective is to help develop education systems which are producers of the labor force and the intellectuals, by providing access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which will facilitate: The use of digitized documents (powerful tools for the processing Of information: text, sound, image). Global access to information resources The provision of new tools for access to knowledge for students Communication and collaboration. Computer skills have become the basic knowledge required, needed to be efficient and cost-effective in the 21 Century where advanced technology has become an integral part of our daily lives. The first priority is access to technology (ICT): CFSB first priority is to be able to offer computers for schools and help teach students how to use it. The main component of the ICT concept is the computer, preferably with Internet access. With this, comes the need to provide computers, a computer program of first class for students and training for the teachers. The second priority is the access to information: The second priority for CFSB in the educational system is to connect the Digital Centers to the internet and finally to interconnect the schools of Burundi (education, research and communication) enabling them to participate fully in the global economy. For the above reasons, CFSB, a non-profit organization, is looking for partners with whom he can work to achieve these ambitious goals and bring hope to millions of young people, hungry to learn and contribute positively to build a better world, far from violence, crime and wars. The Mission of Computers For Schools Burundi is capacity building. The objective of the mission is to promote computer skills through the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for youth and communities in Burundi, to succeed in the modern economy of the 21st century by reducing poverty in their country. By helping to provide access to the Internet for educational institutions, CFSB is working to make ICT accessible to students on campuses and schools in Burundi. CFSB wants to help schools and universities to become familiar with computers and the internet to build a better future and thus make the internet accessible to the majority of young people of the developing countries to create a productive workforce.
Safeplan Uganda is a youth-founded and focused organization addressing the challenges youth face in finding employment opportunities in Uganda. The organization's main purpose "is empowering young people through skills and awareness to enhance their potential in becoming responsible citizens" - in short, create sustainable jobs for young people. The organization achieves its purpose through five broad program areas: Health, Environmental Awareness, Education, Gender, and ICT (Information and Communications Technology). Overall Goal An enlighten and empower communities working together to build a sustainable future for all Ugandan people Description of the activities The organization is strongly community oriented; it actively engages with youths, women, community elders and church leaders to help identify youths below 30 years of age, targeting nearly all school dropouts, for its programs. Safeplan Uganda is geared towards "supplementing what the government is doing for the local youth" as it recognizes that the government is not able to fully support what the "community youth need and deserve". Safeplan's understanding that "there is a need to help the youth help themselves" has led to its programming in livelihoods skills training. There are three programs at Safeplan currently: 1 - Technical skills training (carpentry and tailoring) 2 - Energy-efficient cook stoves Promoting renewable energy products across the district 3 - Budongo Women Bee Enterprise (BUWOBE) (the Prize-winning activity) Reports & Updates 1- Technical skills training-up to 50 youths have been training in Carpentry and tailoring since 2017 with the merger resources in the organization with community support. The youths are trained locally and supported to acquire national certificate from the Directorate of Industrial Training accredited certifying body by the government of Uganda. 2- Promotion of energy efficient cooking technology-more than 500 solar lantern have been sold since 2017, 12,000 cook stoves sold to community to reduce fuel consumption. More than 1000 women trained in construction of energy cooking technology in refugee settlement camps in northern Uganda Arua District. 3-Budongo women Bee enterprise-(BUWOBE) the two time award winning project has reached more than 300 women with bee keeping skills since 2014. To date the project is empowering 30 more youths and women with skills in bee keeping, business and leadership skills in Nyantonzi village. This particular project has been made possible by YouthPower learning program PROUDLY support by the United State Agency for International Development. (USAID)
"Connecting Cambodian Youth to the skills, opportunities, and inspirations needed to reach their potential." This is the mission of PEPY Empowering Youth, a local non-profit (NGO) focused on educating and empowering youth in underserved and remote communities outside of Siem Reap city. With their team's intimate understanding of barriers affecting students' ability to move onto higher education (many team members are former beneficiaries of PEPY's projects), PEPY staff often become student's first role models while building their capacity to achieve their dreams through academic, technical, and professional training- enabling them to make changes they wish to see in their communities. Through PEPY, students' rates of moving onto higher education and obtaining skilled employment are increasing. PEPY's approach to education development is different because they focus on high school and higher education students, an age group often overlooked, while targeting remote areas where higher education is uncommon and often financially impossible. PEPY's programs are comprehensive and go beyond typical scholarship programs, guaranteeing that students graduate and all of them find jobs while they are still in school.

CEMINA ( Communication, Education, Information and Adaptation) is a not- for- profit organization founded in 1990 to empower women and communities through the use of the radio. Over the years CEMINA has created 400 women's radio programs and has been awarded with various prizes. The radio model, created by CEMINA, is considered a social technology and has been disseminated not only in Brazil but in other countries as well. Since 2007, CEMINA has shifted its focus from radio to the capacity building for social start ups and education for adaptation to climate change. One of its main projects is Adapta Sertao ( www.adaptasertao.net) which aim is to develop a social technology that benefits the population of small underserved towns in the semi-arid region of Brazil. The project consists in articulating a group of social technologies that use scare resources such as water and arable land to guarantee the livelihoods of the local communities especially small farmers. The project has received very prestigious awards such as the 2008 SEED Award. It has also been recognized as a best practice by UN Habitat. CEMINA also supports a children- youth program at Favela Julio Otoni. The program offers a series of benefits for children with ages between 6 and 14 years old. The idea is to offer these children the new possibilities of seeing and actualizing the world. The program is done with volunteers.
