CANADIAN LEAGUE AGAINST EPILEPSY

The Canadian League Against Epilepsy is an organization of medical and basic sciences professionals counting more than 125 members, including physicians, basic scientists, nurses, neuropsychologists, neuroradiologists, students and other health professionals. Our members are all keen to take advantage of their passions and their knowledge in their respective fields to better respond to various basic needs of the epileptic population, present and future. We also work in collaboration with several organizations such as the Canadian Epilepsy Alliance, the American Epilepsy Society and the North American Commission for Epilepsy. We meet at the time of the Canadian Congress of Neurological Sciences and every other year at the Canadian League Against Epilepsy meeting. The league members are also in contact on an ongoing basis through our website in order to provide information and exchange views on various topics of current interest on epilepsy.

BC Women's was founded in 1994 when the Grace Maternity Hospital merged with the Women's Health Centre of the former Shaughnessy Hospital. As a result, BC Women's has a breadth and scope of obstetrical and specialized women's programs unmatched in the country. BC Women's Foundation supports the hospital so that: * BC Women's may continue to be a national leader in meeting the health needs of women, while treating patients and their families as partners in their health care choices. * The hospital can continue to provide academic, career, and leadership opportunities for health care professionals pursuing specialties in women's health. PASAN formed in 1991 as a grassroots response to the AIDS crisis in the Canadian prison system. Today, we are the only organization in Canada exclusively providing HIV/AIDS education, support and advocacy to prisoners, ex-prisoners, young offenders and their families.

The Haliburton Highlands Health Service Foundation is an incorporated registered Canadian charity that financially supports the hospitals and health care facilities in Haliburton County. The money is raised through personal, business & corporate donations, special events, promotions, annual giving and the special gift program. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who dedicate their time and expertise to have better health care and hospital facilities.

LIFESAVING SOCIETY - NEW BRUNSWICK

The Lifesaving Society is a full-service provider of programs, products and services designed to prevent drowning. We are a national volunteer organization and registered charity composed of tens of thousands of individual members, and over 4,000 affiliated swimming pools, waterfronts, schools and clubs. The Lifesaving Society is a leader and partner in the delivery of water safety education throughout Canada and around the world. We represent Canada in the Commonwealth Royal Life Saving Society and the International Life Saving Federation. The World Health Organization recognizes ILS as the world authority in the global effort to prevent drowning. The Lifesaving Society takes lead responsibility for drowning prevention in Canada.

PEERS Alliance

AIDS PEI is guided by the principles of health promotion, population health, and community development. It acknowledges that determinants of health such as gender, social support networks, education, social and physical environments, personal health practices, coping skills, culture, biology and genetic endowment must be addressed if community-based AIDS work is to be effective. It affirms the voices of people living with HIV or AIDS. It is dedicated to developing new and innovative prevention/education initiatives for targeted populations including Youth, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered (GLBT) community, Women, Intravenous Drug Users and those in correctional institutions. Theses initiatives enable individuals to manage their health through access to high quality support and educational programs. VICTORIA THERAPEUTIC RIDING ASSOCIATION

The Victoria Therapuetic Riding Association (VTRA) is a non-profit organization that uses horseback riding as a recognized therapeutic aid for people with a wide range of physical, intellectual and learning disabilities. VTRA offers classes to 145 children and adults with disabilities that include Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Autism, intellectual challenges, and hearing or vision impairment. VTRA has been operating since 1982 and is made up of a volunteer board, a small paid staff and more than 100 volunteers who through their dedicated contribution of time enable these individuals to ride each week.

Cowichan Independent Living is operated by persons with disabilities for persons with disabilities. Our programs and services are founded on the principals that all people should be able to: 1.Live with dignity in their chosen community; 2.Participate in all aspects of their own lives; and 3.Control and make decisions about their own lives.
