YMCA OF NIAGARA

You can help to financially assist children and youth to participate in the Y. Your charitable contribution to the Strong Kids Campaign will help enrich the lives of over 13,500 children and youth who would otherwise not be able to afford to participate in a values-based, recreational YMCA experience. YMCA programs help children and youth build confidence, develop skills and form relationships. Your generous support can open the doors to a Youth Action program, teach a child to swim, build tomorrow’s leaders through the Leader Corps program and provide a safe, nurturing environment with positive role models in Day Camp. The YMCA believes that investing in the development of youth today will help build strong families, which in turn will build strong communities.

Our aims are the improved well-being and the autonomy of the individual: we endeavour to improve his/her quality of life. For us, all aspects of a human being are interrelated: physiological as well as social and environmental considerations influence psychological well-being. At all times we respect the autonomy of our clients. Service plans are made in collaboration with the client rather than for him/her. The community worker's role is to support the person in his or her own efforts and to help them clarify their choices. As well, the work is focused on the client's strengths.
