The fundamental purpose of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation is to raise funds to support projects and other initiatives identified and prioritized by the Hospital. Donated funds are transferred to the Hospital for approved projects and/or for equipment or departments specifically identified by donors who wish to self-direct their donations. Donated funds are invested, managed and dispersed under the guidance of the Foundation Board. Donated funds are not used to support aspects of the operating budget of the Hospital. The operating budget of the Hospital is funded by the respective provincial ministry and by revenues received directly by the Hospital for various services provided to patients.
Since its establishment in 1953, Winnifred Stewart has evolved, grown, and empowered countless individuals with disabilities to discover their goals and dreams. Through exploration, experience, and sharing stories, Winnifred Stewart Association helps to facilitate meaningful relationships in order to build natural supports in an individual's chosen community. We support individuals with disabilities to realize their goals, and desires, and help to make the resources available and accessible for them to lead fulfilling lives.

A strong community needs great health care close to home. Thanks to the generosity of donors, the Foundation supports the Health Centre’s remarkable physicians and staff as they take care of our community. Donations support facility renovations to our patient care areas. For example, support from donors helped build a new wing that opened in 2012. Donors also help purchase essential medical equipment, like a new endo-bronchial ultrasound that pinpoints lung cancer, and funds training for our dedicated health care professionals. Current priorities include renovating our patient spaces like lounges and waiting areas to make the more comfortable for patients and families; building a new Dialysis Centre; and building and equipping two new Interventional Suites in our Diagnostic Imaging department.
St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation was established in 1972 to carry on the fundraising mission of the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception and is now the major fundraising body for St. Joseph's Hospital. St. Joseph's Hospital has gained a reputation for combining state of the art medical technology with unsurpassed patient care. It is a reputation we are proud of and work very hard to maintain. Over the years our role has changed to suit the needs of the community. Today we are developing programs in partnership with Horizon Health to respond to community needs.
St. Joseph's Healthcare Foundation is known for building lasting, mutually rewarding partnerships that enable St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, a multi-campus, teaching hospital, to provide the best in compassionate patient care and innovative medical research. In June 2011, the Foundation publicly launched Timeless Care, Tomorrow’s Discoveries – The Campaign for St. Joseph’s Healthcare, which will raise $75 million to support three vital projects at the hospital: the opening of a state-of-the-art surgical centre on the Charlton Campus; the creation of a new integrated mental health and medical care facility on the West 5th Campus; and the funding of vital healthcare research at St. Joe’s. These projects will touch the lives of two million Ontarians who live in the region served by St. Joseph’s.
Non-profit organization in support of St. Mary's Hospital Center - a 316-bed acute-care general hospital nestled in the multiethnic community of Cote des Neiges in Montreal. In spite of its modest size, SMHC brags the largest birthing center on the island of Montreal and one of the most sophisticatedly equipped surgical centers for arthroscopic surgery. The hospital has recently been designated as a cataract surgery site by the government, and has repeatedly been awarded the highest rating in patient satisfaction of any acute-care general hospital in Montreal, according to the Minister of Health and Social Services.
The Stop’s work is based on the belief that food is a basic human right. Each year over 14,000 people access our centre for food, social support and advocacy. Although not often attracting the kind of attention it deserves, the hunger crisis in Toronto is severe. A recent study of our food bank members showed that 51% of them go hungry at least once a week. This inability to consistently access food translates into problems such as poor health and social isolation -- issues that ultimately affect us all as a society. While The Stop is probably best known for its food bank, we also run breakfast and lunch programs, offer pre- and postnatal nutrition and support, facilitate group cooking classes and grow food in a local park and greenhouse for many of our programs. The Stop is a vibrant place that is a well-respected leader in the food security sector.
The Stratford House of Blessing provides our clients with the basic needs of food, clothing, and furniture, all at no cost to the people who are in need. We also have programs and support services designed to educate and empower families and individuals to become self-sustaining.
We provide our services on the street, in alleys, along the lakeshore, in parks and ravines, and in homeless shelters and drop-ins. The people we work with have lives characterized by extreme poverty, chronic unemployment, insecurity in housing, poor nutrition, high stress and loneliness; they also have more frequent and serious illnesses, and die younger on average than the general population. Our services include outreach nursing, mental health support and case management, HIV/AIDS prevention, a secure mail service, identification replacement, clothing and sleeping bag distribution, and support for those with Hepatitis C and prevention strategies for those at risk for the disease. We adhere to a harm reduction model in our programs. See our website at www.streethealth.ca for more information.
