The Perth and District Food Bank is a non-profit, community-run agency. We help families in our community by providing a three day emergency supply of food so that they do not go hungry. Mainly with financial assistance and donations of food and services from our community. The Food Bank is run by a volunteer Board of Directors with one part time staff person and a team of 45 volunteers handling the day-to-day operations. We keep our overhead low and make the best use of every dollar donated. People who come to the Food Bank are welcomed and treated as neighbours. We know that it is not easy to ask for help.
Lupus is a life altering and potentially life-threatening auto-immune disease for which there is no cure. In an autoimmune disease, the body’s immune system (which normally protects and defends the body against disease and illness) becomes overactive, often attacking healthy tissues of the body. It can affect any organ or system. The resultant inflammation can be destructive as well as debilitating. In Ontario, we have increased the number of support centres and assisted volunteers who have helped many people with lupus share information and education to better manage their disease. Lupus Ontario knows that there are not enough specialized physicians to give adequate care to people living with lupus. To address this, we financially support two fellowships that educate in the optimum treatment of people living with lupus. We continue to drive awareness through advocacy, written articles, media releases, PSAs and our updated website. We support research; RESEARCH BRINGS US HOPE

Community Concerns for the Medically Fragile (CCMF) is a volunteer-driven group dedicated to meeting the needs of medically fragile children and young adults in the Sarnia-Lambton community. Moreover, we strive to assist families with medically fragile children/young adults in their day-to-day challenges, both financially and emotionally, and to raise public awareness about the unique characteristics of the individuals we represent. Our goal is to support medically fragile children and young adults, while recognizing their uniqueness, and their rights to dignity and quality of life. We use the term "medically fragile" to refer to individuals requiring 24-hour medical supervision and intervention, due to conditions such as cererbal palsy, severe epilepsy, paraplegia, etc. These individuals may be technologically dependent, as well as mentally and/or physically challenged.
