Nestled in a peaceful setting near Riley Park in northwest Calgary is The Salvation Army Agapè Hospice. It is a home away from home for the terminally ill, offering people a place where they can die with dignity. It is also a place that echoes with the hope of life. Compassionate and professional care is the backbone of the hospice. The philosophy: caregiving is most effective when residents, health professionals, volunteers, and family work as a team. Teamwork is what makes Agapé special. Since The Salvation Army opened the hospice in 1992, thousands of individuals, including families and friends, have benefited from the nursing and spiritual care, family support, pain management, and bereavement services that Agapé Hospice offers.

THE DENISE HOUSE / SEDNA WOMEN'S SHELTER & SUPPORT SERVICES INC

A Safe and Protected Environment The shelter maintains a confidential address. Twenty-four Hour Crisis Intervention The shelter offers a 24 hour crisis line and is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A TTY line is available. Emergency Accommodation and Room and Board 27 beds are available for women and children. Meals, clothing and basic necessities are also provided Counselling Services for Abused Women Supportive counseling is available to women while they reside at the shelter. Staff and volunteers provide options and alternatives to aid women in making choices. An in-house support group meets weekly, offering an opportunity to discuss and learn more about abuse issues. Children’s Program Child and youth workers provide support to children & teenagers who come to the shelter with their mothers...many of whom have witnessed violence in the home. All of its programs and services are founded on the values of quality, collaboration, engagement, communication, responsibility, ethics, and responsiveness, and on a person-centred approach. A not-for profit organization, the ASM was founded in 1981, and serves the territory of the Island of Montreal. It is funded entirely by the generosity of its many donors.

Hydrocephalus Canada

Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of Ontario (SB&H) is a registered charity governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. SB&H provides direct support to individuals with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus and their families, conducts awareness and education programs, supports and promotes research, and works to ensure fair treatment and social justice for people with disabilities. Our vision is to facilitate the reduction and ultimate eradication of these conditions, and build a society that is sensitive, supportive and responsive to the needs of those living with or affected by these disabilities. SB&H is not government funded and generates 100% of its revenue through fundraising initiatives. A small complement of employees and a multitude of community volunteers carry out the Association's work. We are the only organization in Ontario addressing the needs of individuals and families affected by these serious, complex conditions.
