THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT, PROTECTION AND EDUCATION ABOUT THE ECOLOGY OF THE MATANZAS RIVER. In the 1980s, a group of residents in south St. Johns County were looking for a platform for engaging in local politics and better protecting area ecological resources. They formed Friends of Matanzas, Inc., which began as a relatively small coalition of activists with modest goals. The organization has since blossomed into a true citizen’s task force tackling major local and regional issues. Friends of Matanzas has worked on several projects in several categories including the St. Johns County Comprehensive Plan and Development Code, transportation planning, land use planning, and environmental and waterway protection.

The New Mexico Wilderness Alliance is a non-profit 501(C)(3), grassroots, environmental organization dedicated to the protection, restoration, and continued enjoyment of New Mexico's wildlands and Wilderness areas. The primary goal of the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance is to ensure the protection and restoration of all remaining wild lands in New Mexico through administrative designations, federal Wilderness designation, and on-going advocacy.

The Bainbridge Island Land Trust’s mission is toconserve and steward the diverse natural environment of Bainbridge Islandfor the benefit of all. To achieve this goal, the Bainbridge Island LandTrust acquires interests in land having significant or potentially significantconservation values such as scenic vistas, wetlands, open spaces, tidelands,forest, unique plant and animal habitats and stream and wildlife corridors. Wework with willing private landowners to protect their land using land protectionagreements called conservation easements. We also work with a variety ofpartners to acquire land for parks, trails and public use.

Capitol Land Trust's mission is to strategically conserve vital natural areas and working lands in the South Puget Sound and Chehalis Basin watersheds, for their ecological and community benefits.

To keep all those in CT's Mystic River Watershed safe and flourishing during this period of intensifying climate change, we will improve equity and community resilience by expanding citizen participation in decision making and stewardship; improve the quality of water and habitats and nourish ecological health; inform and coordinate efforts to reduce risks from climate change impacts; advocate for climate-smart development and healthy, thriving communities; and promote youth well-being and school involvement through stewardship, citizen science and civic engagement.

Lifeline Energy is a non-profit social enterprise that provides sustainable information and education access to vulnerable populations. We achieve this by designing, manufacturing and distributing solar and wind-up media players and radios for classroom and group listening. Since 1999, we have distributed more than 500,000 power independent radios to provide on-demand access to information and education, mainly in sub-Saharan Africa. Over the years we have received numerous awards including the Tech Museum of Innovation Award, a World Bank Development Marketplace Award and an Index: Design to Improve Life Award. In addition, our founder and CEO Kristine Pearson was named one of TIME magazine's Heroes of the Environment for 2007 and received the James C. Morgan Global Humanitarian Award in 2005.

Our mission-Rare inspires change so people and nature thrive-is about motivating behavior change. Rare uses insights from behavioral science and design thinking to encourage individuals and their communities to adopt behaviors that benefit people and nature-and ensure that change lasts. Our programs are based on the cumulative power of individual action and the exponential power of those actions to inspire others. Rare trains local leaders to lead change, leaving a legacy of increased capacity and a sense of ownership, responsibility, and pride in conservation.

It is the mission of Holy Cross Education Foundation to provide funding and administrative assistance to schools that strive to provide the highest quality primary education to children in disadvantage areas. We seek to effectively help prepare students for the challenges of life in the 21st century - spiritually, mentally, morally, emotionally and physically by providing a state-of-the-art educational environment.
