Established in 1979, the Barrie Literacy Council was formed to respond to the needs of adults who have trouble with reading, writing, and math. A charitable and volunteer organization, the Council subscribes to the philosophy of “Each One Teach One”, and does so by pairing one tutor with one student at the student’s convenience. With the latest statistics estimating that 26% of Simcoe County residents cannot perform basic reading functions, the Literacy Council is dedicated to raising awareness in order to attract volunteer tutors, potential students, sponsors and the general public

Federation's Objectives 1.) to ensure the sound, long-term management of British Columbia's fish, wildlife, park and outdoor recreational resources in the best interests of all British Columbians, and to coordinate all the voluntary agencies, societies, clubs and individuals interested in that objective, and 2.) to develop and support a comprehensive educational program to make all British Columbians aware of the value of British Columbia's fish, wildlife, park and outdoor recreational resources, and to arouse in the public conscience a recognition of, and a respect for, the place of fish, wildlife and outdoor recreation in the wise integrated use of the nation's natural resources.

Established in February 1938, Bethlehem Lutheran Church (BLC) started with Sunday school classes held in a deserted store on 66th Street and 120th Avenue in 1928.In the fall of 1932, English and German church services were conducted and it quickly became apparent that a permanent home was required. The first BLC was built on the corner of 65th Street and 119th Avenue in 1934 and in 1951 a second church was built on the corner of 59th Street and 118th Avenue. In 1961 the current property was purchased and the new building was dedicated in 1963.In 1996 -1997 a new sanctuary was added. BLC has been blessed by the service of more than 15 Lutheran Pastors,numerous teachers and laypeople over the years. BLC has a close relationship with Concordia Seminary and Concordia University College of Alberta. Bethlehem Preschool, Sunday School, Bible studies, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Vacation Bible School are just a few of the events/activities that call BLC their home.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada is Canada's leading youth mentoring organization, serving over 30,000 children and youth in over 1,000 communities across the country. It is our vision that "every child in Canada who needs a mentor has a mentor". Currently, there are 10,000+ children waiting to receive a mentor.

For over 27 years in Durham Region, Girls Inc. has helped girls at-risk achieve their full potential. We've provided thousands of girls knowledge, skills, and attitudes to overcome social, emotional, and economic challenges in order to achieve their full potential. Girls who participate in Girls Inc. programs: Grow self-esteem that carries over to home, school, and the community; Develop sound decision-making and communication skills; Assert themselves as confident individuals throughout their lives; Build key leadership and strong work skills; Create meaningful, supportive peer groups. Programs cover a variety of topics such as: - Body image and self esteem - Bullying and violence prevention - Health & relationships - Peer pressure - Substance use prevention - Science, math & technology - Financial literacy - Sports participation

Bishop's University is a predominantly residential university whose primary concern is offering undergraduate students a quality education in arts, sciences, business, and education. The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BGCO) has served the Ottawa community since 1923, reaching out to 4,500 children and youth each year through after-school, weekend and summer programs that build self-esteem and help to develop stronger social skills. We utilize an integrated model of age-appropriate social, recreational and academic activities that include proven strategies for building positive relationships, mentoring, conflict resolution, skill development and employment training. These programs are developed in collaboration with families, local schools and other community partners to create comprehensive healthy living opportunities for children and youth.

HELP US HELP KIDS! Children need fun and interactive spaces to learn and grow, and Brampton Library is committed to giving them just that. But we need your help! As the community's centre for literacy and lifelong learning, the Library wants to ensure children of all ages think of the Library as the place they want to be. When they're here, we can help make a real difference - engaging them with wonderful stories and interactive and educational programs and service. We want to revitalize our children's areas, purchasing early literacy workstations and child-friendly furniture that encourages kids to stay and read, learn and grow. Branksome Hall is an independent school for 850 girls from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12. We are an International Baccalaureate World School located in the heart of downtown Toronto.

We have been preparing leaders for over 70 years. Our ministry emerged from a community of believers who valued the Word of God and wanted to provide Bible training. That commitment remains at the heart of what we do and why we exist. Our aim is to call students to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, and our approach to reaching this goal is increasingly unique in the educational landscape. Isaiah 40:8 We are situated in a close-knit community that is ideal for spiritual reflection yet offers one of the most extensively developed Christian education campuses in Canada. The centrepiece is the 2,400-seat Hildebrand Chapel; the largest church auditorium in the province. Facilities also include a 25,000-square foot library, nine student dormitories, a hotel, recently renovated dining hall, double-court gymnasium, ice rink, numerous sports fields, Subway restaurant, and two coffee shops.

This fund will help grade 11 and 12 students at Deer Lake School go on a Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic.
