The Housatonic Community College Foundation was founded in 1990 by a group of Greater Bridgeport residents and business and arts leaders. The Foundation provides financial assistance to the College and its students beyond the fundamentals provided by the State of Connecticut and assists the College in becoming a unique educational resource for its students and the community. The Foundation also serves as a vehicle generating funding for Housatonic student scholarships, student emergency assistance, child care assistance for parents enrolled at Housatonic, program enhancements and support of the Housatonic Museum of Art.

We commit ourselves to academic excellence and the pursuit of wisdom, which flows from free inquiry, religious values, and human experience. We strive to preserve and enhance an atmosphere in which scholarly research, imaginative methodology, global awareness, and an enthusiastic quest for truth serve as the basis of a vital teaching-learning process and the development of lifelong learning. Our core curriculum in the liberal arts and sciences aims to enrich lives as well as professions and serves to unify the undergraduate experience. Graduate and professional schools express our commitment to research, rigorous standards, and innovative application of knowledge. Labouré College is the longest educator of nurses in Boston. They were founded by the Daughters of Charity, a Catholic order of nuns dedicated to caring for the sick and underserved with compassion.
