The mission of Adelante Latina! is to help Latina girls overcome the socio-cultural, economic and academic barriers they face in pursuing a college career. The program strives to improve high school performance through interaction with expert teachers and caring tutors, with an emphasis on reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing skills and SAT preparation.The goal of Adelante Latina! is for all participants to be accepted into either a 2-year community college or a 4-year college or university with adequate financial support. The Goodman Community Center strengthens lives and helps secure futures for people across greater Madison by providing accessible programs and services for children, youth, families and older adults — including licensed early education, after-school/teen programs, a food pantry, fitness and senior services. Programming emphasizes affordability and community access to promote health, learning, and self-sufficiency.
