Through the vision of Artistic Director Wayne Specht, Axis Theatre Company has developed world-class, highly original theatre. It has actively pursued a multi-disciplinary style of presentation, incorporating many theatrical disciplines including dance, clown, puppetry and acrobatics underscored by inventive text and music. Our newest production RAVEN MEETS THE MONKEY KING is currently touring BC elementary schools in communities of all sizes,from our home in Vancouver up to the border with the Yukon. This new creation joins other successful productions in our popular Theatre for Young Audiences repertoire such as KING ARTHUR’S KITCHEN, THE EMPERORS NEW THREADS, ROBINSON CRUSOE and of course THE NUMBER 14, our comedic tour de force, which earned which earned both universal acclaim and multiple awards. Stretching the boundaries of live theatre, Axis has produced over 50 original works and been rewarded with 16 Jessie Richardson Awards by the Vancouver theatre community.

Established in 1979, the Barrie Literacy Council was formed to respond to the needs of adults who have trouble with reading, writing, and math. A charitable and volunteer organization, the Council subscribes to the philosophy of “Each One Teach One”, and does so by pairing one tutor with one student at the student’s convenience. With the latest statistics estimating that 26% of Simcoe County residents cannot perform basic reading functions, the Literacy Council is dedicated to raising awareness in order to attract volunteer tutors, potential students, sponsors and the general public

Home of the Barrie Kiwanis Music Festival and Youth Talent Search Competition, Barrie, the Barrie Music Festival Association is comprised of a group of interested volunteers who dedicate their efforts to promoting performance opportunities for young musicians. We believe that Music Festivals provide a unique experience for competitors. Preparing for performances over several months, and then actually performing in public, teach competitors skills that will last a lifetime. And our young musicians not only get the chance to hear each other's performances, but they also receive adjudications and workshops from some of Canada's top musicians. Whether or not they continue into careers in the performing arts, for most competitors this will be the first step in what will become a lifelong support of the arts in their communities. The BC Farm Museum was opened in 1966 and over the years has evolved into a total pioneer life collection. The museum association owns and operates over 20,000 square feet of exhibit space for over 5000 artifacts of historic farming machinery and pioneer life. The reference library contains over 5,000 volumes of books, pamphlets, and manuals.

Federation's Objectives 1.) to ensure the sound, long-term management of British Columbia's fish, wildlife, park and outdoor recreational resources in the best interests of all British Columbians, and to coordinate all the voluntary agencies, societies, clubs and individuals interested in that objective, and 2.) to develop and support a comprehensive educational program to make all British Columbians aware of the value of British Columbia's fish, wildlife, park and outdoor recreational resources, and to arouse in the public conscience a recognition of, and a respect for, the place of fish, wildlife and outdoor recreation in the wise integrated use of the nation's natural resources.

Theatre New Brunswick began in 1969 with the aim of bringing professional theatre to a province where virtually no professional theatre existed. In those early years much of the focus was, out of necessity, on importing talent on stage and off. Along the way we developed work by New Brunswickers and raised up New Brunswick talent. Eventually, TNB’s presence throughout the province led to a new generation of theatre artists and audiences. These artists and audiences wanted to find a place for themselves and their stories on our stages. In recent years the vision has shifted from simply exposing New Brunswickers to great theatre to celebrating our own stories and talent.

Established in February 1938, Bethlehem Lutheran Church (BLC) started with Sunday school classes held in a deserted store on 66th Street and 120th Avenue in 1928.In the fall of 1932, English and German church services were conducted and it quickly became apparent that a permanent home was required. The first BLC was built on the corner of 65th Street and 119th Avenue in 1934 and in 1951 a second church was built on the corner of 59th Street and 118th Avenue. In 1961 the current property was purchased and the new building was dedicated in 1963.In 1996 -1997 a new sanctuary was added. BLC has been blessed by the service of more than 15 Lutheran Pastors,numerous teachers and laypeople over the years. BLC has a close relationship with Concordia Seminary and Concordia University College of Alberta. Bethlehem Preschool, Sunday School, Bible studies, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Vacation Bible School are just a few of the events/activities that call BLC their home.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada is Canada's leading youth mentoring organization, serving over 30,000 children and youth in over 1,000 communities across the country. It is our vision that "every child in Canada who needs a mentor has a mentor". Currently, there are 10,000+ children waiting to receive a mentor.

Hailed as a national treasure, Caravan Farm Theatre has been entertaining audiences young & old, from near & far, since 1978. As one of Canada's premier outdoor theatre companies, Caravan Farm Theatre offers a wildly popular winter sleigh ride show, a stunning summer show, a fall shadow play, and Mayfair in spring. It's theatre under the stars! A BRIEF HISTORY: Caravan Farm Theatre sprang from the peripatetic Caravan Stage Company, and its ethos was shaped by a diverse community of artists, farmers and rural renegades. Informing all of this was the legacy of life on the road where horse and theatre were twined; the field and forest, pig, cow and chicken reality of an 80 acre farm, and the rural population beyond the fenceline. These early Caravan productions laid the foundation for a theatre that is at once spectacular and firmly rooted in a narrative dramatic tradition -- a broadly populist theatre with sophisticated execution.

Bishop's University is a predominantly residential university whose primary concern is offering undergraduate students a quality education in arts, sciences, business, and education. Our academic programs are broadly-based and stress inter-relationship of disciplines rather than specialization.
