Results for Development Institute (R4D) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to unlock solutions to tough development challenges that prevent people in low- and middle-income countries from realizing their full potential. THE VAD Foundation is a U.S. based nonprofit organization working to increase access to quality education in South Sudan through sustainable initiatives. After the publication of What Is The What, a novelized account of the life of Valentino Achak Deng, Valentino and author Dave Eggers established the VAD Foundation to help rebuild South Sudanese communities by building schools and establishing community development programs. The VAD Foundation operates two schools, Marial Bai Secondary School and Alok Girls' Academy, which have become flagship models for holistic education in the region by incorporating sustainable agriculture, vocational training, and gender equality into every aspect of the curriculum.
