Ever since its founding in 1880, Diskin has been a symbol of care and nurturing for young orphans and their families, as well as for other families in crisis – 130 years of giving, with sensitivity and tremendous love.Diskin's foremost goal is to offer our children life, hope, and a future. What began as an orphanage has become the Diskin Orphan Fund, managing projects to help and support orphans and their families at home and at school. For 130 years, Diskin has been a pioneer in caring for orphans – with sensitivity and understanding.The aim of all Diskin's projects and activities is to envelop the orphaned child with love and to support him with all his needs — clothing, medical care, hot meals, tutoring, educational counseling, and more – to enable him and his family to break out of the cycle of poverty, to give them the tools to build a better future and a productive life. Children have so many needs – and orphans have that many more! There's so much that must be done for them, for their bereft families, and for other families in crisis. Diskin is there for them, day after day. We share the burden of their pressures, their anguish, and their anxieties.No one can ever bring back an orphan's father; no one can give him the mother he lost. But together – Diskin and you –– we can help them. We can be the closest thing possible to a mother or father. We can "adopt" them and take them to our hearts. Mongabay.org’s mission is to raise awareness about social and environmental issues relating to tropical forests and other ecosystems, to wildlife, and to the important role that natural ecosystems play in maintaining critical services, including stabilizing the global climate system. To achieve this, Mongabay.org creates educational materials in several languages and provide opportunities for science journalists to report on environmental issues through well-established on-line platforms. 

World Children's Initiative, Inc., is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to improving medical and educational systems for children in developing areas worldwide. Established in 2005, WCI grew from the experience of three young professionals of South Asian descent during their visit to Sri Lanka in February 2005. For Dr. Kanishka Ratnayaka, who is an ethnic Sinhalese, and Mr. Pratheepan Gulasekaram, an ethnic Tamil, the service mission was a deeply personal matter undertaken to aid friends,and family. The two men reached across the frontlines of a bloody, decades-long civil war to collaborate in the relief effort. The group of friends visited relief camps and orphanages to provide medical assistance at makeshift treatment centers. In addition, they brought school supplies and clothes to orphanages on the hard-hit eastern shore of the island. While providing immediate relief, the group also surveyed potential long-term projects for improvement of pediatric health care. Based on this assessment the team decided to initiative their maiden initiative, Project Peds: Sri Lanka.  Project Peds designed and constructed a new children's hospital in Matara, Sri Lanka, an area hard-hit by the tsunami. Currently, WCI is launching its second initiative, Project Heart: Uganda, aiming to improve screening and treatment of childhood heart disease in Uganda and east Africa.
