PARTICIPATION SUPPORT SERVICES, formerly Participation House Brantford

Participation House opened in June 1978 to provide community living accommodation for persons with physical disabilities. In 1985, we became involved in the community through the establishment of Supportive Living Apartments (West Street Apartments) with 11 of the residents from Participation House moving into their own private apartment. 32 years later, we support 26 people at Participation House and 17 at the West Street Apartments. Our energy is geared to helping these individuals realize their full potential and to help them play a more integral role in the community to which the live. Participation House is a non-profit organization receiving its funding assistance through the LHIN (Local Health Integrated Network). It is important, however, that the organization look for constant opportunities to help with its financial responsibilities as well as its commitment to persons with physical disabilities in Brant County.

PEEL FAMILY EDUCATION CENTRE

The Family Education Centre's parenting courses and workshops are based on the works of renowned psychologist Dr. Alfred Adler and his beliefs in mutual respect, encouragement, and shared experiences. Our programs are developed from the democratic parenting style, where Parent Educators help parents explore ways to encourage children to become cooperative, self-confident, responsible and interdependent. Each session is tailored to equip parents with a set of skills and strategies to deal with the daily challenges of parenting relevant to today’s society. This is done through interactive group participation, by creating an open atmosphere where parents feel comfortable to share ideas and the support in knowing that others are also experiencing similar situations.

PEI HOME AND SCHOOL FEDERATION INC

“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.” Warren G. Bennis Education is the future. It is no surprise then that the expectations that parents, students, and the community have of our schools are so high. We all want to ensure that our children have an environment that will cultivate learning, promote exploration and develop the first-rate citizens of tomorrow. Our collective challenge is to ensure that our schools can meet these expectations by providing high quality educational programmes which meet the demands of the years to come. When it comes to keeping our schools running effectively - it takes leadership, cooperation and extraordinary dedication, as parents and teachers, to get our children and youth to where they need to be.

OPTIONS works to educate, advocate and support people in their sexual and reproductive health decisions. The VISION of OPTIONS is Healthy Sexuality Throughout the Lifespan. Much of the information that people receive about sexuality comes from movies, music, the internet and television. This can lead to confusion and misinformation about sexuality for adults and youth alike. This lack of information can increase the risk for sexually transmitted infections, unintended pregnancy, and can create relationships issues and/or personal distress.
