Family Day cares for over 4,000 children across the Greater Toronto Area in both centre- and home-based child care programs. We also offer various community services, including o Integration Services, providing consultation and support services for children with developmental delays; o Community Resource Programs for families, caregivers and children, providing playtime, toy-lending, education and support programs; o Training Programs for caregivers and families on a broad spectrum of child and family issues; o The Innovation Centre, developed by the Board of Directors, dedicated to improving the quality of child care through funding and support for research projects and professional consultation with other organizations. Family Services of Peel was established in 1971 as a non-profit, charitable agency to provide family and community support services for the people of Peel. As a multi-service agency, we provide professional counselling, support for victims of abuse, employment support services, supports for people with developmental disabilities and education programs. Family Plus/Life Solutions (formerly Family Services Saint John, Inc.) has been serving the Saint John area since 1929. The Agency is a private, not-for-profit organization helping men, women, children and families manage the challenges of today's living conditions. We work with individuals, organizations and businesses in our community to end violence against women. We are home to the Fernwood Community Centre and the people behind the revitalized Cornerstone Building and new market-based affordable housing in our village core. We created the Cornerstone Café, a local gathering place where proceeds from our great coffees are reinvested in the neighbourhood. We provide quality infant and toddler and day care and run the Best Babies program for new and soon-to-be moms at risk. We hold weekly lunches for seniors, host youth and adult recreation programs, and provide low and no-cost meeting space for a variety of groups and clubs. We support healthy food in the city through our Food Security Collective and the Good Food Box program we subsidize. We organize monthly total plastics recycling drop off. We publish a monthly newspaper, the Village Vibe, and bring you Fernwood's own free music festival, Fern Fest. We are active in planning and transforming the built environment of our neighbourhood.
FoodShare develops innovative programs and education to improve access to affordable and healthy food, reaching over 159,000 children and adults every single month. We take a long-term approach to hunger and food issues, working to empower individuals, families and communities through food-based initiatives “from field to table.” FoodShare mentors communities in drawing on their own strengths to adapt and grow tools and scalable solutions so that our work is leveraged exponentially. Our programs include Student Nutrition, Field to Table Schools, the Good Food Café (healthy cafeteria), Focus on Food youth internships, the Good Food Box, Mobile and Good Food Markets, Fresh Produce for Schools, School Grown, Community Kitchens, the FoodLink Hotline, Power Soups, Community Gardening, Composting, Beekeeping, School Grown, and Urban Agriculture.
