About Us An impromptu group of concerned citizens met in December of ’06 to discuss the deteriorating condition of the Town of Groton Animal Control Facility and how they could improve things. A follow-up meeting was held in January of ’07 and the participants decided to form a non-profit organization whose goals would be to: • Inform Groton citizens of the need for a new facility • Get a referendum on the November ’07 ballot for bond moneys for a new structure • Provide continuing additional financial and physical support to the animal facility when needed. The organization was named the Groton Animal Foundation Inc.(GAF). GAF became incorporated in March of ’07 and in June of the same year, received its 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status. After a great deal of publicity by GAF to inform the public, Town Council and Town Representatives and in addition, a pledge from GAF to try and raise $200,000 toward the building of a new facility, a bond was placed on the ballot for $1.7 million dollars to build a new facility. The citizens of the Town of Groton approved the bond and the beautiful new facility is now in operation.

Happy Hills provides shelter, food, medical care and compassionate support to abandoned and abused animals, works to place them in responsible permanent homes, and promotes humane education and spay/neuter programs to reduce pet overpopulation in its community.

Foothills Golden Retriever Rescue is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) that rescues, vets, and rehabilitates Golden Retrievers and golden mixes in the Upstate South Carolina / western North Carolina area, then places them in permanent, vetted adoptive homes. They provide necessary veterinary care (including spay/neuter and microchipping), basic training, and foster-based rehabilitation before adoption.

Lovable Paws Rescue operates a no‑kill sanctuary and adoption program that provides temporary and long‑term care, medical treatment, and shelter to lost or at‑risk companion animals. The organization works to place animals in permanent homes and offers community support (e.g., outreach and veterinary assistance) to reduce overpopulation and neglect.

FBRN’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome French Bulldogs in need, giving them the healthy, happy lives they deserve. For nearly 25 years, we’ve helped neglected, abused, and medically fragile Frenchies across the U.S. and Canada find their second chance. From emergency surgeries to loving foster homes, our work runs on volunteer passion and donor support. As Frenchies have become the most popular breed in America, we’ve seen a sharp rise in surrenders, driven not only by irresponsible breeding but also by the growing number of owners who simply can’t afford the cost of care. With rising vet bills and economic uncertainty, more families are being forced to make heartbreaking decisions. Together, we can change their stories. To provide humane professional care of unwanted, abandoned, and stray animals in the Greater New Bedford and Fall River regions. We also educate the public, concerning animal welfare and advocate for humane treatment of animals everywhere.

Good Mews offers an alternative to traditional animal shelters in the Metro-Atlanta area by providing a no-kill, cage-free, limited admission haven for homeless, abused, or abandoned cats until placing them in permanent, loving homes. Good Mews promotes public awareness regarding the value of pets, animal welfare, pet overpopulation, and quality human-animal companionship through education and outreach programs.

To provide shelter and adoption of companion animals, reduce overpopulation, extend humane education, prevent cruelty, and provide those services that promote the goals and policies of The Humane Society of Genesee County.

The Friends of Oakland Animal Services (FOAS) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that funds veterinary care for injured animals, shelter housing and facility improvements, adoption and fostering outreach and supplies, and volunteer program support.
