We also provide a doghouse for each dog, as well as spay/neuter services and emergency veterinary care when needed. To accelerate the unchaining movement, we actively support and mentor new unchaining groups all over the country.

Shepherds Without Borders is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and is 100% volunteer/donation driven. We are based in the Pacific Northwest of the United States; currently active in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Northern California. All of the German Shepherds placed through Shepherds Without Borders Rescue are assessed for temperament before being accepted. While this is no guarantee of future behavior, it does help us understand how the dog responds to new situations, which can help give our adopters peace of mind regarding the stability of the dogs rescue. We accept owner surrenders of good temperament and our trained volunteers scour shelters in selected areas for the casually discarded, but good dogs who, through no fault of their own, find themselves homeless.
