Ladybird Animal Sanctuary

We are the Ladybirds – Lisa Winn, Melissa McClelland and Janine Stoll; best friends who have spent over a decade sharing in each other’s music. As three fulltime musicians and Ladybird volunteers, we find ourselves as the co-founders of a fully functioning charity. There are steep learning curves at every turn, but we are up for the challenge because there is an important task at hand. With every success story, every rescue mission, every grateful furry little face, we know we are doing our jobs as animal defenders. We could not, and cannot possibly do this alone, so please join us on our Ladybird journey!

VAR keeps animals in their foster homes until a permanent home can be found. Valley Animal Rescue needs your support! Please donate today!

In a nutshell, Big On Beagles is dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of beagles experiencing troubled times. Canine Action Project Inc.

Canine Action Project is dedicated to achieving healthy, safe communities for people and their dogs. By helping communities achieve balance between dog and community health. We facilitate a variety of programs which includes, on site spay and neuter clinics, programs to balance the health of the people and their dogs and humane education programs used in school and community programs. Humane education teaches people a ethical balanced sensitivity for all living things. Smaller programs are also facilitated which includes dwellings for dogs. This program provides dog houses to owners who don't have shelter for their dogs. It may include building houses through community or school programs. We also facilitate a dog food program which provides people with dog food on a periodic basis whom have taken the initiative to get their dogs spayed and neutered. C.A.P believes education is the foundation for change.

Spay Day HRM Society

Spay Day HRM was formed in 2011 to address the undisputed cat population explosion in the Halifax area. We assist people of low income to have their cats spayed/neutered. Often these cats do not receive veterinary care due to the economic situation of the owner and continue to add to the cat population. At this time there are no public funds for cats and the number of cats in need is great. We do a lot of work in areas of public housing and some of the most economically challenged neighbourhoods. We strive to over come the obstacles to having cats spayed or neutered. We make the clinic appointment, provide the cat carrier and the drive to the appointment. We return the cat back home and discuss after care with the owner. We provide education to the cat owner on the benefits of spaying, neutering and keeping their cat indoors
