VegTO

Founded in 1945, the Toronto Vegetarian Association (TVA) is the largest vegetarian organization in Canada. Our biggest projects include coordinating Toronto's annual Vegetarian Food Fair, producing our annual Vegetarian Directory, updating a comprehensive vegetarian resource website (www.veg.ca), hosting a free drop-in Resource Centre, and running The Veggie Challenge. All of our programs have the following objectives: (1) To educate the general public about the benefits of appropriately planned vegetarian diets in an open and non-judgmental way; and (2) To encourage and support those who choose a vegetarian lifestyle as well as those who choose to reduce their consumption of animal products by providing resources and a sense of friendly community. Your support helps us meet these objectives.

WWF-CANADA

Founded in 1967, WWF-Canada is one of the country's leading conservation organizations, enjoying the active support of more than 50,000 Canadians. We work to conserve species at risk, protect threatened habitats and address critical environmental threats. Using the best available scientific knowledge, WWF works to preserve the diversity and abundance of life in Canada and around the world. We find long-term solutions that benefit both people and nature, relying on the support of thousands of Canadians each year. Your support will help protect species at risk and the habitats they call home, like polar bears, tigers and whales; in regions, like the Arctic, the Great Bear rainforest and the sea; and find solutions to issues like climate change and overfishing. Winnipeg Humane Society

The Winnipeg Humane Society (WHS) is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that handles over 8,000 animals each year. Without the generous support from the community, WHS could not shelter, feed and provide medical assistance to the thousands of lost and abandoned animals that pass through its doors, nor strive to educate and support the community through a variety of programs directed to children, teens and adults, including, obedience classes, spring and summer camps for kids, youth at risk programs, pet therapy to senior complexes, as well as educational workshops such as what to consider when adopting a family pet. In addition, WHS works to combat pet overpopulation with SNAP – a subsidized spay and neuter program, for those living on fixed incomes or social assistance, along with other community outreach initiatives. For more information on WHS and to learn how your donation will help, call 204-982-2041 or visit us at www.winnipeghumanesociety.ca.

THE SEYMOUR SALMONID SOCIETY

The Society operates the Seymour River Fish Hatchery and Education Centre which is located on the Seymour River just below the Seymour Falls Dam in North Vancouver, BC. In 1961, the construction of the Seymour Falls Dam removed access to 60% of the river from migrating salmon but more importantly has also resulted in the loss of 90% of the original spawning habitat. To mitigate this effect, the Society has been instrumental in the creation of new spawning, wintering and rearing habitat along much of the lower river. The Society supplements Seymour stocks of fish through rearing and releasing Steelhead Trout, Coho, Chum, Chinook and Pink salmon. Since 2005, we have been especially involved in research projects involving radio tracking adult Steelhead and looking at early marine survival of Steelhead smolts that are migrating to the ocean.
