Kindred Community Farm Sanctuary (formally SALI's Farm)

SALI's Farm is a safe haven for at-risk children and rescued animals to bond, learn, and heal with one another. SALI's Farm utilizes animal-assisted and horticultural activities that help abused and neglected children heal emotionally from trauma. Abused and neglected animals are given a permanent home. Our goal is to help children and animals heal and help break the cycle of violence. SALI's Guardian Program provides for the needs of companion animals of women & children fleeing violence, isolated seniors, and people living in poverty and on the street. SALI believes that all members of our community deserve the love and support of pets, especially our most vulnerable. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for our two-legged and four-legged community members.

Kootenay Animal Assistance Program Society

KAAP is a 100% volunteer run society serving the West Kootenay region, around Nelson, in British Columbia. We rescue and accept relinquished cats and dogs into our foster care, and find new homes for them. We also provide any necessary medical treatment, training, and assessment the pet needs to help them become adoptable. KAAP's popular web site, www.homes4animals.com, also helps community pets via a lost-and-found service, as well as a medium to advertise private pets for re-homing. KAAP is the only local animal rescue organization to actively promote a spay/neuter initiative for KAAP animals as well as for low-income families. In addition, KAAP provides compassionate care for pets of individuals and families in crisis, to bridge the gap and allow the pet to return to the family in due course.

Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation

We provide the full range of treatment services needed to rehabilitate small birds and mammals. We assist the public with issues relating to wildlife; and promote knowledge and appreciation of wild animals and the habitats they depend on for survival. LSWR took in 20 animals in 2005, which increased to 220 in 2011. Each animal requires specialized foods, housing and environmental enrichment to ensure success upon their return to the wild. All activities are funded by donations and grants. There is no government funding for these programs. LSWR works in collaboration with the provincial wildlife rehabilitation society, local veterinarians, the Saskatoon Nature Society, the Zoo Society, and others to arrange for animal rescue, pick-up, medical needs, on-going care, and the eventual release of the animal to an appropriate habitat. All services are provided by volunteers, with over 25 contributing their time and energy to support Saskatchewan’s wildlife in 2011.
