We are a Humane Society dedicated to finding homes for stray cats and dogs as well as spreading the word about spay and neuter. We spay and neuter all pets Before they go out to new owners if they are old enough. After a couple of years in existence, we were able to purchase jointly with the Town of Meadow Lake a used kennel building which was moved the summer of 2007 onto a lot in the industrial area of town. As of December 2007 it was set up for interior use. Outdoor pens were set up in 2008. This new building now houses both our adoptable dogs & cats! It is much cleaner, brighter & better built than our previous shelter to house the animals and will serve the town well as both a shelter & pound building. We are 100% volunteer operated. Thanks to the Town of Meadow Lake & the hard working volunteers of MLDHS. See our adoptable pets at www.mldhs.petfinder.com or contact us at mldhs@sasktel.net. We thank you for any donations we receive via Canada Helps.

It is in the staff’s job description to ensure each dog is exercised at least 3 times per day, that they reside in clean kennels all day and that they receive good quality food & medical care. Cats have extra large cages and a communal area for exercise.

SAGA is a volunteer run, non-profit organization that was founded in the summer of 2003 by a group of people that had fallen in love with these majestic animals and saw the demand for such an organization here in Alberta. Not only does SAGA promote the adoption of retired racing greyhounds to loving homes, our mandate also includes providing information about greyhounds to the public. These dogs are not what most people would expect, which is why we encourage everyone to come experience them at one of our Meet and Greet events. SAGA is committed to looking out for the welfare of retired racing greyhounds, educating people about ex-racing greyhounds, their qualities as pets, and their care.
Selected because of exceptional geo-physical characteristics, large tracts of unfragmented forest and significant amount of biodiversity, the rivière au Saumon watershed is a privileged eco-region for the creation of a protected natural corridor. Using an individual voluntary conservation approach, based on a scientific methodology, the SCCNRS provides a conservation solution that is flexible enough to respond to the needs of an individual landowner’s use of their property while meeting the SCCNRS’s conservation objectives for target species and habitats. This is acheived by identifying the areas of greatest ecological value on each property and assuring their protection using conservation tools adapted to the personal objectives of individual landowners.
