The Vancouver Writers Fest is one of North America’s premiere literary events, held on Granville Island, Vancouver’s cultural mecca, for six days each October.
The Writers Fest attracts the world’s best writers to Vancouver. Internationally renowned and undiscovered authors mingle with readers of all ages in various venues on Granville Island. The Festival has presented luminaries such as Martin Amis, Margaret Atwood, Maeve Binchy, Peter Carey, Roddy Doyle, Timothy Findley, Tomson Highway, John Irving, P.D. James, Thomas Keneally, Rohinton Mistry, Frank McCourt, Alice Munro, Michael Ondaatje, Ian Rankin, J.K. Rowling, Salman Rushdie and Carol Shields.
The Writers Fest offers events and programs for schools and special events throughout the year featuring Canadian and international writers. Spreading the Word, the Festival’s schools program, presents children’s writers to over 7,000 children and young people, in English and French.
