The Children's Aid Society of Hamilton was established in 1894 as a non-profit, charitable organization focussing on the well-being and protection of children. The CAS is mandated under The Child and Family Services Act of Ontario to provide child protection services in our community. This Society is funded 100% by the Province of Ontario, through the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.
The Society is responsible for the investigation and assessment of all allegations of physical, emotional or sexual abuse and neglect towards children and the management of a case when a child is taken into care. The Society provides supportive counselling to the family and child, in order to help keep the child in their home.
