Our Mission

Toronto United Church Council works with congregations and social outreach organizations within Toronto Conference, which covers much of south central Ontario.

Council's roots date back to 1892 when the Massey family mobilized Toronto's wealthy Methodists to build a more vibrant church. Beginning as the church's banker and real estate advisor and later assuming responsibility for Toronto's social services, Council has a long history of balancing the business of church infrastructure with outreach ministry.

Today, Council is in the midst of its most ambitious fundraising effort ever; The Seven Years of Plenty Campaign encompasses the funding of all of Council’s work. Individual donations, the establishment of family funds, bequests, and planned gifts all enable church members to fulfill our faith calling to live in gratitude for God's generosity and to lead in the building of a just society that responds generously to the needs of all.
