Pledge to make a difference, together.
Paul's Place is a catalyst and leader for change, improving the quality of life in the Southwest Baltimore communities. Paul's Place provides programs, services, and support that strengthen individuals and families, fostering hope, personal dignity, and growth
Since 1982, Paul's Place has served more than 2,000,000 meals. LOUIS’S STORY: Louis was a 19-year-old living on the streets in Southwest Baltimore when he arrived at Paul’s Place. He was hungry and dehydrated when he came for lunch. That day, he ate a hearty, nourishing meal, got new clothing and shoes, and made an appointment with our housing case manager. They were able to help him find transitional housing and secure an identification card. With stable housing and proper identification, Louis quickly landed a job.
Paul's Place has prevented 1,340 families from eviction. MORNIE’S STORY: Mornie — who received the very first of the 278 housing vouchers made available in the summer of 2021 — moved her family into their home on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. After alternating for years between motels, her car, and the homes of friends and family, Mornie and her boys finally have a safe place to call home. This emotional day was a fresh start for the family; to celebrate, her sons ran inside as the door finally opened, yelling, “We have a home! We have a home!” Once the boys started school, Mornie worked with case management to search for jobs and is now working full-time.
More than 7,500 adults have received case management services since 2011. DAVID’S STORY: Since 2020, David has been involved with Paul’s Place in almost every way — as a guest, a committed volunteer, and then an employee at Groundwork Kitchen. When the restaurant closed due to COVID, David sought help from case managers. He was encouraged to apply for the REstart Property Management Training program that Paul’s Place piloted with Institute of Real Estate Management, Maryland Chapter. After successful completion, David faced another unexpected challenge when he found himself homeless. Again, he turned to our team who were able to get him into transitional housing. Now a full-time property assistant, David says, “I honestly don’t know where I would be without Paul’s Place. You’ve met me in my deepest moments of shame and made me feel human.”
